Most likely, your new local phone company set up an account for you when you moved.
They probably sent that information to Sprint indicating you were a new customer.

You won't need to cancel your account, since you can keep your

anytime after the move to cancel your account or transfer service to your new residence.
You will need to contact your local phone company to arrange cancellation of your residential
service.
